John Starr Rd, Elkhart TX 75839, Elkhart, Texas, 75839
Located in the beautiful small town of Elkhart in the rolling hills of Anderson County, Starr Hill Ranch exemplifies all the reasons people want to move to East Texas.
Leading in to the early 1800s, large portions of East Texas remained unsettled. In 1848, John Starr and his wife left Illinois to move south for warmer weather. Starr established a homestead north of Tanyard Creek near present day Elkhart. Later, Starr bought what now is known as Starr Hill (portions of which are on this property). The Starr family cemetery and the large two-story house John Starr built in 1856 are located there. Starr died November 18, 1872. He was the first person to be buried in the cemetery.
Starr Hill Ranch has been managed and maintained to perfection. With approximately 50% woods and 50% pasture, this property is the perfect balance and forest and fields. Completely fenced with manicured fields, Starr Hill is primed and ready to support any choice of livestock operation. You would be hard pressed to find a property that would better support a horse operation. The neighborhood around this property is exceptional, with beautiful farms and large houses located all around on John Starr Road.
Located on the North East side of the property is the Western most point of Starr Hill. With strategic land clearing, one could open up this massive hillside to have absolutely breathtaking views of the countryside. This hillside would be the perfect location to put a patio and/or gazebo and have a cooking & hangout area that would be second to none; with views of the countryside for miles. The Eastern portion of Starr Hill Ranch coming down from the hillside is blanketed in beautiful, wide open forest. Very rarely in East Texas do you see an all natural, open, forested area like this. Riding through this wooded section of the property, it is almost a guarantee that you will see several deer. The pond located on the Eastern side of the property provides water to game and livestock alike, and also has a small population of largemouth bass.

The porch extends all the way around the house, and is enclosed on the back, with open window screens providing enjoyment in the winter and the summer.
